The 2025 bowling season has now finished and we can reflect on what was a wonderful year for the Club. The weather was perfect for bowling and we hardly lost a day to rain and managed to keep the bowling green in excellent condition despite the tough conditions.
The bowling was first class and for the first time in the Club’s history we won the Grantham & District Friday night 2-wood league – a great achievement and one which we hope to build on in the future.
The playing season usually finishes at the end of September, but this year we kept our green open for a few hours during the Sheep Fair to try and attract new members. Several of our members were there to welcome visitors and we hope we have gained two new members. We look forward to seeing them at the start of the new season in April 2026.
We also participated in the Sheep Fair with our usual tombola stall, offering many prizes donated by club members. Many of our usual supporters and friends came along to try their luck and the day was a great success. The money raised will go towards the upkeep of our bowling green.
Now that the playing season is over, work on the annual maintenance of our green will begin. The green will be scarified, fertilised and seeded in preparation for play next year. The gardens, hedges and fencing will also need attention. Fortunately, we have dedicated and experienced members who spend many hours through the autumn and winter doing whatever needs to be done to keep the green and grounds in top class condition.
We hope you will come along and join us next April and discover the great game of bowling.
