Swayfield Village and Garden Club: Plant and Produce Show 2025

After some 36 years since the last Swayfield Plant and Produce Show, Jenny Geeson had the urge to resurrect the event that she previously used to organise for our village.

Jenny discussed the idea with Hitendra, the Manager of Swayfield’s Royal Oak, who immediately suggested that it should be held there.

So, on Sunday 24th August, after previously re-arranging the tables in the dining room, residents of Swayfield and members of the Swayfield Gardening Club began to bring along their treasured flowers, fruit, vegetables, cakes etc. There were excellent displays from some 26 entrants.

Judging was carried out by Mick Lyon, Richard Halsey and Jean Seed who we would like to thank very much.

It was a shame that there hadn’t been more entrants, particularly in the Children’s section – as there weren’t any! (Possibly technology might be to blame for this.) However, positively, it was a great success and hopefully will set up a formula for shows in future years.

I would just like to say ‘Thank You’ to Hitendra and Joshi for hosting this event so well at The Royal Oak and, of course, to Jenny for all her hard work and effort in re-establishing the idea and making this event happen. Let us hope that this is the starter for many more Swayfield Village and Garden Club Plant and Produce Shows to come in future years.

So Villagers be warned – get those seeds sown and the plants ready and well established for 2026.
