October Events at Grimsthorpe Castle

Visit Grimsthorpe during October Half Term for spooky family fun! Halloween Trail, Spooky Woodland Walk, Gruesome Grimsthorpe Castle tours as well as Spooky Tours with the Storyteller await those brave enough to visit!

Pick up a freshly-brewed coffee and a hot snack from The March Hare Tea Trailer and set off across the fallen, golden leaves, or sit and enjoy in our indoor seating area.

Open from 10.30am – 5pm from Sunday 20 to Thursday 24 October, and Sunday 27 October.

Grim Castle Tours led by Storyteller Mark Fraser

Don’t miss out on ghostly tales with our resident Storyteller Mark Fraser as he takes you for a spooky tour of the castle.

Tours of up to 14 people, not suitable for children under 8 years of age.

Sunday 27th October
Crime and Punishment Tudor Day!

Come and hear gruesome and grisly tales of crime and punishment during the Tudor period!

His Majesty King Henry VIII will regale his favourite punishment methods, the laws he introduced and the truth behind some of those famous beheadings…

Talk/presentation at 12pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm in the Vanbrugh Hall

Meet and greet in the grounds in between the presentations with Henry VIII, Katherine of Aragon and Cardinal Wolsey.

Tuesday 29th October
A Fireside Talk with Tony Kirkham

Join us for an evening with Tony Kirkham, the renowned horticulturist and former head of the Arboretum at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Tony will delve into his extensive career, sharing tales of plant hunting adventures and his expert insights on the future of trees and which species we should focus on planting today.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to gain knowledge from a leader in the field of botany and conservation.

Ticket includes a glass of wine to enjoy by the fireside (donations for refreshments are welcome).

Doors open at 6pm, allowing you some time to settle in before the talk begins.

Dress warmly—the castle’s charm includes its historic, but limited, heating!
